P&I (Protection and Indemnity) is an insurance solution designed to protect maritime operators such as shipowners and charterers/forwarders—members of the so-called English P&I Clubs (mutual associations). It is a form of mutual marine insurance offering advantageous and comprehensive coverage. Indeed, in addition to Third-Party Liability, P&I protects the insured against damages related to the vessel and/or the crew.
Compensation for crew injury or medical expenses; environmental pollution damage; risks related to vessel towing; shipowner's legal protection in case of disputes; third-party damage following collision.
